West Ham make progress to sign PSG star Carlos Soler
The Hammers have been actively engaged in the current transfer window to equip their new manager, Julen Lopetegui, with the essential resources needed to implement his football philosophy and attain success this season.
They have already acquired Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Jean-Clair Todibo, and Max Kilman to enhance their defensive lineup, while Crysencio Summerville, Niclas Fullkrug, and Luis Guilherme have been brought in to strengthen the attacking front.
Furthermore, Guido Rodriguez has been signed to reinforce the midfield, although it seems that Lopetegui is still in pursuit of an additional midfielder before the transfer window closes.
As reported by L’Equipe, the Hammers have engaged in discussions with PSG regarding the acquisition of Soler, and following fruitful negotiations, they are now ‘closer’ to finalizing his transfer.
The report indicates that Paris Saint-Germain is prepared to transfer the Spanish player for £21 million, inclusive of bonuses, allowing the East London club to pursue their primary target at a reasonable cost. Additionally, the French media suggests that Soler has already agreed to a transfer to the London Stadium.
Soler was chosen to participate in Paris Saint-Germain’s opening league match against Le Havre last weekend; however, he has since been omitted from the squad for this weekend’s encounter with Montpellier.
Lopetegui aims to establish a possession-oriented strategy at the London Stadium, yet he currently lacks a sufficient number of technically proficient midfielders. While Rodriguez can assist in executing this approach, Lopetegui requires additional options, and acquiring Soler could be a strategic move.
It will be intriguing to observe whether the East London club successfully finalizes his transfer as the window draws to a close, thereby strengthening their midfield.
In the meantime, Lopetegui fielded a team that lacked several of his recent signings in the opening Premier League match against Aston Villa last weekend.
West Ham ultimately suffered a 2-1 defeat, and they are set to compete against Crystal Palace this weekend. Consequently, it remains uncertain whether Lopetegui will alter his starting lineup for the match against the Eagles compared to the previous game.

Chelsea Eyeing Move to Re-Sign Marc Guehi in 2025
Despite a busy transfer window, Chelsea are still a work in progress and are expected to overhaul their defense next summer. According to Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Chelsea are eyeing Marc Guehi as a potential target.
Guehi attracted interest from Newcastle United earlier this summer, but Crystal Palace rejected a £70 million bid from the Magpies, preferring to keep him. With Guehi’s contract nearing its final year in 2025, Chelsea see an opportunity to sign him potentially at a discounted rate.
Liverpool and Manchester City are also interested in Guehi, and Newcastle might rekindle their pursuit next year.
Marc Guehi would be a valuable addition to Chelsea. This season, Chelsea’s defense has largely featured Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana. Although Enzo Maresca has options like Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile, and Tosin Adarabioyo, Guehi could significantly bolster their defensive capabilities.
At 24, Guehi is becoming a key player for the English national team and was notably impressive in the European Championship this summer. His aerial strength and physical presence are qualities Chelsea’s defense currently lacks.
Given his past with Chelsea’s academy, Guehi might be inclined to return to west London if he feels he has unfinished business with his former club. Chelsea’s promising young squad and attractive salary offer could further entice him to make a move.
It will be interesting to see how the race for Marc Guehi develops as the transfer window approaches next year. Crystal Palace, having recently turned down a £70 million bid, will likely set a significant asking price.

Liverpool Eye Move for Takefusa Kubo as Potential Salah Replacement
Liverpool are beginning to plan for life after Mohamed Salah, who is currently 32. While a short-term contract extension for Salah is possible, the Reds are looking to secure a long-term replacement.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Liverpool are closely monitoring Takefusa Kubo as a potential signing for next summer. The report states that Liverpool have been tracking the Japanese forward for months, with 2025 potentially being a key year in Kubo’s career.
Kubo, who previously played for Barcelona and Real Madrid, has a release clause of £50 million in his contract with Real Sociedad. The La Liga club is expected to hold firm on this fee and be reluctant to negotiate a lower price.
Liverpool need a top-quality right winger to potentially replace Mohamed Salah. While Takefusa Kubo is a talented player, his career goal-scoring record raises concerns. Last season, Kubo managed just seven goals and five assists in all competitions, and he has only scored once in four games this season.
Spending £50 million on a player who hasn’t consistently delivered in front of goal may not be justifiable for Liverpool. A more compelling alternative could be Real Madrid’s Rodrygo Goes. Rodrygo’s future at Madrid has become uncertain with Kylian Mbappé’s arrival, and he has demonstrated his ability to perform at the highest level.
Rodrygo, a two-time Champions League winner, has consistently contributed with over 20 goals and assists while often playing behind Vinícius Júnior. His performances against top teams like Chelsea and Manchester City further affirm his capability to step up in crucial matches, making him a potentially better fit for Liverpool’s needs.
It remains to be seen whether Rodrygo Goes is open to a move, as he has repeatedly expressed his happiness at Real Madrid. However, Liverpool would be wise to explore the possibility and test the waters for his potential availability.

Man Utd Plot Move to Sign Fulham Star Antonee Robinson
Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Fulham’s Antonee Robinson, according to transfer insider Dean Jones. The Red Devils have struggled with left-back issues due to ongoing injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, leading Erik ten Hag to use Diogo Dalot in that position.
Jones has reported that United, frustrated by Shaw’s persistent fitness problems, are prioritizing the acquisition of a new left-back. Robinson has emerged as a key target, with United seriously considering a move for him in the upcoming winter transfer window. Fulham are reportedly asking for around £35 million for the USA international, a figure that could be reasonable for Ten Hag’s side to secure his services.
Manchester United are considering Antonee Robinson as a potential signing to address their left-back issues, but he’s not their only target. According to Dean Jones, AFC Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez and Stade Brestois’ Bradley Locko are also on Ten Hag’s radar. However, United face competition from Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, and Aston Villa for Kerkez’s signature.
Robinson, known for his attacking prowess, excellent crossing ability, and quickness, has impressed in the Premier League and could be a valuable addition to Manchester United. His defensive efficiency and offensive contributions make him a strong candidate.
As United look to strengthen their squad, it will be intriguing to see who they choose to reinforce the left-back position in the upcoming transfer window. Currently, the team is recovering from back-to-back defeats against Brighton & Hove Albion and Liverpool and will face Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.
Ten Hag is under immense pressure at the moment and cannot afford to settle for anything less than a victory in this weekend’s encounter.
