Parents’ Generation Didn’t Support Their Children’s Talents” – Rapper Phyno

Nigerian rapper Phyno has praised today’s parents for better supporting their children’s talents. He shared his own experience of lacking parental support when starting his music career, noting that this has since changed.

Nigerian rapper Phyno has praised today’s parents for better supporting their children’s talents, unlike the previous generation. In an interview on the *In My Opinion* podcast, the acclaimed musician reflected on his own experience, sharing that his parents were initially unsupportive of his musical ambitions. “My parents didn’t support my career when I first started. It’s different now,” he said.

He added, “I think the generation after my parents understands the importance of supporting their children’s talents and recognizes that there’s something special about a child who loves music or a child who loves to play ball.

Phyno compared the two generations, highlighting that in the past, children were often punished for pursuing their interests. “Back then, when parents came home and saw you playing ball, they’d beat you, seize the ball, and give you punishment. You understand me?” he said. He commended today’s parents for recognizing and nurturing their children’s talents, whether in music, sports, or other fields.

“I’m just trying to say that the era then and now are different,” Phyno explained. “Now, any father who sees his son can play ball enrolls him in an academy. Some even buy a ball for their kids at 1 year old and say, ‘You must play like Neymar.’”

Phyno also acknowledged the changing view of creative careers, saying, “Different generations, you know, and I don’t blame my parents. I’m sure the money in music now wasn’t there back then. They saw musicians as useless people, just folks who wanted to wear dreadlocks and walk around. But now, everyone sees the talent as a gift to be shared with the world. Shout-out to this era of parents.

Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, known as Verydarkman, has once again criticized influencer Amarachi Amusi, aka Ashmusy, for her behavior towards a woman.

Greynews previously reported that the TikToker called out Ashmusy for publicly asking for donations, claiming they would go to a needy woman.

In a recent video, Verydarkman mocked Ashmusy for reaching out to the woman only after he spoke out. He pointed out that she still hasn’t given the woman the promised N500k.

The activist also mentioned that Ashmusy had the woman turn down his offer of N1.5 million and challenged her to keep her promise this time.

In the recording, Verydarkman claimed that after his dispute with Ashmusy, she allegedly reached out to the woman and pressured her to create a video praising her.

He also stated that the woman initially declined his money, but her husband later contacted him asking for N1.5 million.

VDM added that the woman’s husband explained they needed the funds to rent a shop for their business expansion.

The activist claimed the husband said VDM was the reason Ashmusy got in touch with them again and made another promise.
