Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has defended Burna Boy after he faced backlash for kicking a fan who ran across the stage during his performance at the 2025 Greater Lagos Countdown Concert.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Odumodublvck justified Burna Boy’s reaction, stressing the importance of personal safety in such unpredictable situations. He argued that the backlash was unfair given the potential risks involved.

“If that guy had a knife and, God forbid, did anything to Odogwu, the same people talking would say, ‘He has money, why didn’t security do something?’ Let’s speak honestly sometimes. Not everything is banter. I know it’s New Year, but that doesn’t mean foolishness should continue. Abeg, abeg.”

Odumodublvck’s comment has sparked mixed reactions, with some agreeing with his view, while others continue to criticize Burna Boy’s response to the situation.

This follows the viral clip from Burna Boy’s Tuesday night performance, showing him kicking the overzealous fan who rushed onto the stage. After the incident, the singer signaled his disinterest in continuing the performance and headed toward the exit.

Burna Boy’s actions sparked a range of reactions on social media, with many condemning him for assaulting the fan, while others defended him. In response to the backlash, the Afrofusion singer explained that he has PTSD, and his condition is often triggered when startled on stage, which is why he walked off after the fan attempted to grab him.

Burna Boy further urged fans to respect his boundaries while expressing gratitude for their support.

The concert, held at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), was part of an annual celebration across five IBILE divisions of Lagos, including Ikorodu, Badagry, Agege, and Epe. It featured performances by Olamide, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Adekunle Gold, Seyi Vibez, 9ice, BNXN, and fuji maestro Adewale Ayuba.

Seun Kuti shared how his father, Fela Kuti, ensured his teachers didn’t punish him in school. He explained that Fela wanted to handle discipline himself and gave Seun a note on his first day, instructing the headmistress not to punish him.

Afrobeats singer Seun Kuti shared how his father, the legendary Fela Anikulapo Kuti, ensured his teachers didn’t hit him in school, as Fela wanted to handle discipline personally.

Seun Kuti shared that on his first day of school, his father gave the headmistress a note asking her not to punish him. When he moved to secondary school, Fela did the same with the principal.

Seun Kuti recalled an incident when a teacher hit him, prompting him to rush home to tell his father. He shared that while his father’s actions towards the teacher caused him pain, it also made him happy, as he had disliked that teacher.

Seun Kuti noted that some people view hitting children as an African practice. However, the 41-year-old singer, who turns 42 on January 11, 2025, clarified that it was Africans who were beaten, raising the question of who was inflicting the beatings.

Seun Kuti’s comments were in reference to the incident involving a three-year-old child at Christ-Mitots School in Ikorodu, Lagos, who was harmed by his teacher, Stella Nwadigo.

She repeatedly hit the boy for not writing numbers correctly in class. The incident sparked outrage on social media, leading the Lagos state government to arrest her.
