Manchester United Predicted Line-Up for EFL Cup Clash Against Barnsley

Following a decisive 3-0 win over Southampton in the Premier League, Manchester United are set to face Barnsley in the EFL Cup third round at Old Trafford tonight.

After back-to-back defeats to Brighton & Hove Albion and Liverpool before the international break, Erik ten Hag was under significant pressure. However, the recent victory has provided him with some much-needed relief.

The Dutch manager will be eager to maintain the momentum in this midweek fixture before a challenging Premier League match against Crystal Palace next weekend.

Barnsley, currently outside the top six in League One, are the underdogs, with Manchester United heavily favored to advance to the next round of the competition.

Team News

Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Luke Shaw and Rasmus Højlund are still not fit to play, meaning they will remain sidelined for this fixture. Additionally, Leny Yoro is not yet ready to return, and Mason Mount will not feature due to his ongoing injury issues.

Concerns arose about Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, and Lisandro Martínez after they were substituted in the second half of the previous match. However, ten Hag has assured that all three are fit and available for this game.

**Predicted Line-Up**

Given the congested fixture schedule, ten Hag is likely to rotate his starting eleven to keep the squad fresh. Nevertheless, André Onana is expected to start in goal for Manchester United.

**Predicted Manchester United Line-Up vs. Barnsley**

Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans are likely to form the central defensive partnership, with Diogo Dalot starting as the right-back. Harry Amass could be chosen for the left-back position to rest Noussair Mazraoui, given the absences of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

Manuel Ugarte, seeking more game time, might be included in the midfield alongside Casemiro, allowing Kobbie Mainoo a break. Bruno Fernandes is expected to continue in the attacking midfield role.

With Marcus Rashford and Amad Diallo potentially rested, Alejandro Garnacho and Antony are set to start on the wings. Joshua Zirkzee is anticipated to lead the attack in the absence of Rasmus Højlund.

**Predicted Line-Up:**

– **Goalkeeper:** André Onana
– **Defenders:** Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, Jonny Evans, Harry Amass
– **Midfielders:** Manuel Ugarte, Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes
– **Forwards:** Alejandro Garnacho, Joshua Zirkzee, Antony

Everton agree deal for West Brom’s Tom Fellows

Published

on

Everton have reportedly agreed on a deal to sign West Bromwich Albion star Tom Fellows, as per transfer expert Mike Brown.

After rising through West Brom’s youth system, the 21-year-old made his senior debut in 2021. Struggling for regular minutes, he was loaned to Crawley Town to gain experience and develop his career.

Fellows has since become a key player for West Brom, enjoying a strong season with 13 goal contributions in 26 league appearances.

Impressed by his recent performances, Everton have shown interest in signing Fellows. According to Mike Brown on Football Insider, the Toffees attempted to sign him in the winter window and have laid the groundwork for a potential deal.

However, Everton couldn’t finalize the deal before the deadline as they were unable to reach an agreement with West Brom over the transfer fee.

Fellows to Everton

Everton have agreed on personal terms with Fellows after receiving approval from Moyes and are expected to complete the move for the youngster next summer.

Brown said:

“Yeah, I expect they’ll get that one done. Everton have already done all the hard work to get to the stage they were at in January, where they agreed terms with the player. They’re not going to let it go. It seems most of the talks have already taken place, so it will be a case of picking up where they left off.”

Brown added:

“They’ll still have to agree on a fee with West Brom, which was the stumbling block, but those types of deals are usually easier to do in the summer. I expect they’ll still want to bring him in because he’s an exciting young player, and Moyesey has obviously given the go-ahead.”

Moyes has a proven track record of spotting talent, as seen with his successful signings at West Ham, including Jarrod Bowen, Tomas Soucek, Vladimir Coufal, Mohammed Kudus, and Lucas Paqueta. Now, Everton will be hoping he can replicate that success at Goodison Park.

Fellows is a left-footed right-sided forward with plenty of potential. He could be a smart acquisition for Everton if they sign him, though it remains to be seen if they will finalize the deal next summer.

West Ham & Tottenham battle for Richard Rios

Published

on

West Ham United are reportedly ready to go head-to-head with Tottenham Hotspur over a deal to sign Palmeiras star Richard Rios, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.

West Ham thrived under David Moyes, winning the Europa Conference League, but after parting ways with him, they’ve struggled with instability.

Julen Lopetegui replaced Moyes as West Ham’s manager ahead of this season and was given funds to strengthen the squad last summer.

Things didn’t go as planned under Lopetegui, leading to his departure. Graham Potter has since been appointed to steady the ship. West Ham are currently 15th in the Premier League with 27 points from 24 games.

West Ham are already looking to strengthen their squad for next summer, with Fichajes reporting that Potter’s side are targeting midfielder Richard Rios as a key addition.

Battle

Rios’ £84m release clause poses a major challenge for West Ham, but the midfielder is eager to move to Europe, which could lead Palmeiras to lower their asking price.

Tottenham and Nottingham Forest are also targeting Rios, meaning West Ham will face tough competition to secure the deal.

Spurs have Pape Matar Sarr, Yves Bissouma, Rodrigo Bentancur, and Lucas Bergvall as midfield options. Archie Gray is also an option, though he’s been playing in defense due to their injury crisis at the back.

Bergvall is still a teenager and needs time to develop, so Tottenham may look to add a more experienced midfielder ahead of next season.

Rios has impressed for Palmeiras and played a key role in Colombia reaching the Copa America final last summer. At 24, he could be a smart acquisition for either Tottenham or West Ham, provided they can secure him for a reasonable price.

Tottenham & Man Utd eye Matheus Cunha move

Published

on

Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are reportedly planning to make a move to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha, as per Spanish outlet AS.

Tottenham have faced injury woes this season, affecting their performances. They’ve been knocked out of the EFL and FA Cups and sit 14th in the Premier League with 27 points from 24 games.

As a result, Ange Postecoglou is facing criticism, with reports suggesting his job is at risk. Meanwhile, the club is exploring the market to strengthen the squad ahead of next summer.

Spurs may need to sign a new left-winger if Timo Werner leaves at the end of the season. The RB Leipzig loanee has struggled for form and is now dealing with an injury.

AS reports that Tottenham are looking to strengthen their attack for next season and have shown interest in Matheus Cunha, closely monitoring the Brazilian’s progress ahead of a potential move.

Battle

Matheus Cunha recently signed a contract extension with Wolves until 2029, with a release clause of just over £60m. Despite the club’s battle for survival, the clause remains unchanged if they are relegated, though they would be open to negotiations in that scenario.

The report claims that Tottenham are not the only club interested in Cunha, as Manchester United have also been closely monitoring the forward ahead of a potential move next summer.

Arsenal and Nottingham Forest also showed interest in signing Cunha during the recent winter window, meaning the player has no shortage of potential suitors.

Man Utd are lacking depth in attack after Marcus Rashford and Antony’s departures, and Jadon Sancho’s exit last summer. As a result, they will need to sign a new forward for next season.

Cunha has been delivering promising performances this season and is proven in the Premier League, making him a strong acquisition for either Man Utd or Tottenham if they secure his signature.
