Have confidence in yourself and take pride in who you are

Afrobeat musician Ayra Starr has stressed the importance of prioritizing personal growth and confidence over the opinions of others.
During an interview with ‘Dose of Society’, she advised individuals to concentrate on themselves and not waste time fretting over others’ judgments.
Ayra Starr shared her own experience, realizing that people’s perceptions are not as significant as she once believed.
When asked, “What matters less than you thought it would?” by the interviewer, Ayra Starr responded, “I feel like it’s opinions and people’s perceptions of you. Trust me, people are living their lives; everybody is busy and people are hungry. Stop caring about what people think about you; people are hungry, people are tired and life is hard.”
She stressed that everyone is preoccupied with their own lives and problems, and cautioned against seeking approval from others.
“Just be yourself; sometimes you’re there wondering, ‘What does this person think about me?’ and they’re just there, wondering, ‘What’s going to happen today? Am I going to make it home?’. There is a lot happening in the world and if you spend your time thinking about what people think about you, you’re just going to waste time,” she added.
Ayra Starr encouraged people to focus on self-improvement, confidence, and self-love.
“Be yourself. Find yourself, be confident in yourself, and don’t worry about the outcome; just do it. Don’t be afraid to fail; fail as much as you want to, but when you get it right, you’re going to be so proud of yourself.
“Be confident, be proud of yourself; you’re doing amazing. It’s hard but you’re doing amazing. Never get tired of trying; keep trying until you get it right. Don’t be afraid to fail and, oh, love yourself,” she said.

She also addressed accusations regarding her alleged lack of care for the late Jenifa’s Diary cast member, Esther, clarifying that she was going through a difficult time and was unfairly blamed for not caring for the actress.

No, this person came to act in my movie, got paid, and left. Why are you accusing me of something I didn’t do wrong?
She continued, “Do you know what I’m going through? I lost my mum, my marriage fell apart, I lost in politics, I have to get back to work, I have to earn a living. I have children I’m raising alone, and you are stressing me. So, for the first time, I cried. I broke down for weeks.
