Femi Falana Promises Legal Action Against VeryDarkMan
Femi Falana, a prominent human rights lawyer, has firmly denied allegations of collaborating with crossdresser Bobrisky, which were brought forth by social media critic Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan.
The controversy ignited when VeryDarkMan shared a viral video claiming that unnamed EFCC officials accepted ₦15 million from Bobrisky to drop money laundering charges against him. He further alleged that Falana had sought a presidential pardon for Bobrisky and requested ₦10 million to facilitate the process.
Falana addressed the allegations on Channels Television’s *Politics Today*, asserting that Bobrisky had never contacted him and that he does not know who the crossdresser is. In a related development, Bobrisky reportedly asked his son, Folarin Falz, for ₦3 million to secure a VIP section in jail, but Falz declined, suggesting that Bobrisky should follow the regular procedures with the jail officials instead.
Falana emphasized that his son has never negotiated on behalf of anyone and that his children typically refer those in need to him. Despite the allegations, he has chosen not to file a criminal complaint, highlighting his commitment to leading the movement to decriminalize free speech in West Africa.
“Bobrisky never spoke to me; I have never met him, and I don’t know him at all. It’s alleged that he reached out to my son, Folarin, also known as Falz. My son mentioned that Bobrisky asked him for ₦3 million to secure a VIP section in prison.
When my son inquired if Bobrisky was contacting him with the superintendent’s authorization, Bobrisky said no. My son then told him not to call again, explaining that he couldn’t assist with bribing prison authorities. He advised Bobrisky to be cautious, given his current situation, and suggested that if he wanted to reach out again, it should be through the superintendent or a letter endorsed by prison officials. That was the last communication.”
“Someone claimed they heard a tape and went out to defame me. My son has never negotiated on behalf of anyone. In fact, my three children typically direct people who need assistance to me.”
“What I intend to do is this: I have resisted the temptation to file a criminal complaint because I am leading a team of lawyers in West Africa campaigning for the decriminalization of freedom of expression. In this case, we won’t file a criminal complaint; we refuse to be pressured into that. Instead, we will pursue civil proceedings aimed at restoring our integrity and protecting the reputations of both myself and my son.

Nigerian singer Habeeb Olalomi Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has sharply criticized fellow artist Speed Darlington after being invited to perform at his upcoming concert.
Speed Darlington, whose real name is Darlington Okoye, had invited Portable to perform at his event scheduled for April 13. However, Portable dismissed the invitation, stating that Speed Darlington was only imagining things if he thought he could secure his performance.
In a fiery response, Portable accused the indigenous rapper of trying to use him for publicity to boost the show. He also took a jab at Speed Darlington’s reputation, insisting that they did not belong in the same category.
“I’m not a tout like you. I’m a hero, a superstar, a celebrity. I perform everywhere—I’ve performed in London, in America,” Portable declared.
Setting his conditions, the Zazu crooner demanded a staggering ₦20 million to perform at the concert. He also claimed that Speed Darlington had previously reached out to him on Instagram with an inflated offer of ₦500 million.
Portable concluded his remarks with a warning, emphasizing that he doesn’t associate with financially struggling individuals.
