Comedian Hyenana on Being Cuppy’s Hypeman for Two Years Before Getting Fired
Nigerian comedian Mr. Hyenena, whose birth name is Adebamiro Adeyanju, recounted his experiences while collaborating with Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy. In an interview with Echo Room, he astonished the interviewer by revealing that he served as her hypeman for approximately two years before his departure from the role.
Reflecting on their initial encounter, Hyenena noted that he attended the same church as the Otedola family, which led to frequent interactions. One day, he approached DJ Cuppy to introduce himself, and fortunately, she was impressed, leading to a fruitful collaboration.
However, as DJ Cuppy, who had recently undergone baptism, chose to concentrate on her DJ career, she decided to discontinue their partnership. Hyenena mentioned that he had initially asked his best friend to step in for him temporarily, but later requested his return. Despite the circumstances, the comedian expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity to work with such a wonderful family.

Sam Larry and Naira Marley Face Subpoena Threat for Missing Court
Coroner’s Court Warns Naira Marley and Sam Larry of Subpoena for Missing Witnesses’ Hearing
The Coroner’s Court in Ikorodu, Lagos, has warned Naira Marley and Sam Larry, among other witnesses, to attend the ongoing investigation into Mohbad’s death or face subpoenas. Following a request from Mohbad’s father for more witnesses, the court has permitted alternative service.
The hearing, which saw only one key witness present, has been rescheduled to September 30, with subpoenas to be issued if witnesses fail to appear.
At the latest court session, only Boluwatife Adeyemo (Darosha) appeared as a witness. The hearing has been rescheduled to September 30, with the magistrate warning that subpoenas will be issued if other witnesses, including Naira Marley and Sam Larry, fail to attend.
Mohbad’s family has expressed frustration with the police investigation, criticizing their reliance on witness accounts and lack of support for an independent autopsy and toxicology tests. They have called for the removal of officers involved due to alleged mishandling, but the Police Service Commission has yet to respond.
Mohbad, who died on September 12, 2023, at 27, has been at the center of controversy, leading to the arrest of his former record label owner, Naira Marley, among others. The Lagos State Police have formed a special team for the investigation and conducted an autopsy after exhuming his body.
