Chima Udoye wins Nigerian Idol and takes home ₦30 million in prize money

With a thrilling final episode, the live shows commenced as the top 10 contestants of the show graced the stage to perform John Legend’s Glory. This was then followed by the winners’ performances.

Progress, the winner of Nigerian Idol Season 7, shared the stage with the Bigi Idol winner. Victory Gbakara, the winner of Nigerian Idol Season 8, showcased an original song he had penned before the finale of his season.

The evening escalated with captivating performances from guest artists like Chike, Simi, and the top three finalists. Ultimately, Chima was declared the winner.

Chima is renowned for his captivating stage presence and impressive vocal abilities, leaving the judges – 9ice, Omawumi, and Ric Hassani – in awe with each performance.

During the finale, Omawumi noted that Chima was competing with himself, a true testament to his growth throughout the competition.

Specializing in jazz and soul music, Chima expressed his desire to not only showcase his vocal talent but also to inspire others through the Nigerian Idol platform. 12 weeks later, he emerged victorious.

In her address at the finale, Dr. Busola Tejumola, Executive Head of Content & Channels, West Africa, MultiChoice, praised Chima for his victory and highlighted the determination he displayed throughout the competition.

After a night filled with stellar performances from talented vocalists like Simi, Chike, and Victory Gbakara, Nigerian Idol Season 8 winner, Chima was awarded a cash prize of ₦30 million, a new SUV, DStv Explora, and a one-year premium subscription.

To top it off, the grand prize includes a music deal and a music video opportunity.

Mercy Chinwo Sues Ex-Manager Eezee Conceptz Over Alleged $345,000 Diversion

A Federal High Court in Lagos issued an arrest warrant against Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, also known as Eezee Conceptz, the former manager of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo.

Justice Alexander Owoeye granted the arrest warrant after an ex parte motion was filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

According to an affidavit from EFCC investigator Michael Idoko, the commission acted on a petition from Mercy Chinwo, accusing her former manager of financial impropriety. She alleged that Onyedikachukwu was secretly collecting royalties from her digital platforms and events.

The case has been adjourned until January 24 for the manager’s arraignment.
