Nigerian comedian Bovi Ugbomma has apologized and retracted his comments on gentle parenting. He previously advocated for gentle parenting, stating he does not beat his children in a recent interview.

Bovi revealed that his son, when angry, breaks their televisions, but instead of resorting to physical punishment, he allows him to do so as part of his approach to gentle parenting.

Nigerian comedian and actor Bovi Ugbomma has apologized and reversed his stance on his remarks about gentle parenting.

The actor had previously encouraged parents to adopt gentle parenting when raising their children. During an appearance on the Honest Bunch Podcast, Bovi mentioned that he avoids physically disciplining his children.

He also shared that his son tends to damage their televisions when upset, and he chooses not to punish him, allowing him to express himself freely.

However, his perspective was met with criticism from netizens, who accused him of encouraging violent behavior and failing to teach emotional control. In response, Bovi took to X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday to apologize for his earlier comments.

He wrote, “I don go trigger angry people because of the phrase I used. ‘For the fun of it.’ Make una no vex. In trying to color my point, I’ve offended a shallow mob. You don’t have to agree with me. If you have children you want to beat, enjoy. My papa no physically beat me and I turned out almost ok.”
