Sowore Alleges EFCC Arrested VeryDarkMan to Silence Corruption Claims

Published

on

Sowore claimed that the arrest was an attempt to stifle VeryDarkMan’s allegations of corruption against the EFCC and its leaders.
He also mentioned that the EFCC is looking to charge the activist in court soon, possibly the next day, to justify their actions.

“Moyele Sowore, former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has accused the EFCC of arresting social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, aka VeryDarkMan, to silence him.”

“In a post on X, Sowore claimed the arrest was an attempt to silence VeryDarkMan’s corruption allegations against the EFCC and its leaders.

He stated, “It has been established that the @officialEFCC unlawfully arrested and detained Martins Vincent Otse aka VDM to silence him for accusing the agency and its leaders of corruption and malfeasance,” describing the action as a clear abuse of power.

Sowore called it a misuse of power and added that the EFCC plans to charge the activist in court soon, possibly the next day, to justify their actions.

“The @officialEFCC is currently exploring legal avenues to charge him in court, possibly tomorrow, in an attempt to legitimize their actions,” he added.

Additionally, Sowore pointed out that the EFCC lacks the legal authority to prosecute criminal defamation, libel, or cybercrime, as these are civil matters.

“Nevertheless, it is essential to state unequivocally that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (@officialEFCC) does not possess the authority to prosecute individuals for criminal defamation, criminal libel, or cybercrime, as these are torts typically addressed through civil lawsuits.”

“As a result, the EFCC must release VDM immediately,” he stated.

In an honest conversation with Chude Jideonwo, he shared that he never anticipated that leading prayers would bring him such widespread recognition.

“NSPPD wasn’t even the original name,” he revealed. “We simply prayed and, over time, realized we needed to give it a name.

Despite his dynamic online presence, Pastor Eze described himself as calm and reserved off-camera. “People are always surprised when they meet me. I don’t talk much in real life,” he shared.

“Anyone who knows me personally knows that the person shouting every morning isn’t really me,” he explained. “I’m very calm. Outside of NSPPD, I rarely speak. I’m quiet and deliberate with my words. So, sometimes, people find it hard to reconcile the person they see online with who I am in real life.

He also admitted that he finds it difficult to watch his own broadcasts because of their intensity. However, his motivation remains unwavering: “I just want to see people smile and be free.
