Asake is poised to achieve a remarkable milestone with the release of his new album, ‘Lungu Boy.’ Since his emergence into the mainstream music scene in 2022, Asake has rapidly ascended to superstar status, propelled by a consistent stream of hit singles featured in two highly successful albums.

In line with his global rise, Asake has unveiled his third album, ‘Lungu Boy,’ which debuted on August 9, 2024. This album boasts collaborations with several prominent artists, including Grammy-winning Nigerian icon Wizkid, British rappers Central Cee and Stormzy, American superstar Travis Scott, and Brazilian singer Ludmila.

The release of this album follows a series of collaborations in which Asake worked with notable artists such as Zlatan, Ayra Starr, Victony, Tems, and Central Cee.

In 2024, Asake also released singles ‘Only Me’ and ‘Wave,’ featuring Central Cee, as well as ‘Active,’ which includes Travis Scott.

This album precedes Asake’s highly anticipated ‘Lungu Boy’ tour, which will feature performances at the renowned O2 Arena, a venue he previously headlined in 2023, and the legendary Madison Square Garden, making him only the fourth Nigerian artist to achieve this honor.

Asake’s ‘Lungu Boy’ marks his third album in three years, contributing to an extraordinary series of hits for this era-defining artist.

Since his breakthrough into mainstream music, Asake has experienced a steady rise. His debut album, ‘Mr. Money With The Vibe,’ earned the Album of the Year award at the 2023 Headies Awards, while his second album, ‘Work of Art,’ featured the hit single ‘Lonely At The Top,’ which set a record for the longest-charting song on the TurnTable Top 100.

Coroner’s Court Warns Naira Marley and Sam Larry of Subpoena for Missing Witnesses’ Hearing

The Coroner’s Court in Ikorodu, Lagos, has warned Naira Marley and Sam Larry, among other witnesses, to attend the ongoing investigation into Mohbad’s death or face subpoenas. Following a request from Mohbad’s father for more witnesses, the court has permitted alternative service.

The hearing, which saw only one key witness present, has been rescheduled to September 30, with subpoenas to be issued if witnesses fail to appear.

At the latest court session, only Boluwatife Adeyemo (Darosha) appeared as a witness. The hearing has been rescheduled to September 30, with the magistrate warning that subpoenas will be issued if other witnesses, including Naira Marley and Sam Larry, fail to attend.

Mohbad’s family has expressed frustration with the police investigation, criticizing their reliance on witness accounts and lack of support for an independent autopsy and toxicology tests. They have called for the removal of officers involved due to alleged mishandling, but the Police Service Commission has yet to respond.

Mohbad, who died on September 12, 2023, at 27, has been at the center of controversy, leading to the arrest of his former record label owner, Naira Marley, among others. The Lagos State Police have formed a special team for the investigation and conducted an autopsy after exhuming his body.
